HOW ONLINE HOMESCHOOL WORKS

The Cambridge Academy delivers courses to students through the time tested Canvas Learning System.

After logging in to canvas.instructure.com, your student's DASHBOARD will show a list of the courses you have selected. When they click on a course, the system will take them to the course. Click on MODULES for assignment. Attendance is auto logged.

Courses are accessed wherever they have Internet connectivity.

Even though this box asks for "email", you do NOT add email here. You add the username and password you recieved in your Intructions WELCOME EMAIL.

STUDENT DASHBOARD

Each student is provided with a user name and password. From the dashboard, the student may select a class to work in. Once the student selects a class, they are immediately taken to their current position within the course.

VIDEO-BASED LESSONS

Each lesson begins with a short video lesson taught by an expert in their field. This video-based instruction allows students to learn independently, which can greatly leverage the time of a parent.

PRACTICE PROBLEMS

Immediately after a video lesson, students receive practice problems to apply the concept presented in the lesson.

EXTRA HELP VIDEOS

For students who did not grasp the concept after watching the initial video lesson and after chatting with their teacher about it, additional more in-depth videos are available for each lesson.

QUIZZES, EXAMS, MID TERMS & FINALS

At the conclusion of each unit, students take a review which is followed by an exam. During the review, students have the opportunity to review videos from lessons within the unit.

GRADES & PROGRESS REPORTS

Parents may see their student's grades to ensure that their students stay on-pace with completing each course. Students may review their progress toward meeting these goals within the student interface. We use the number system (99%, 87%, 72%) which is more accurate than the letter grading system (A, B, C's)
